With the generous support of the Greenwall Foundation, Animus created Rhythm and Rest for the FIGMENT 2009 season long sculpture garden on Governors Island.  Marked by elegance and simplicity, this project is an exploration of repetition and variation, of interruption and continuation.

Standing over 8 feet tall and 20 feet long, with three separate seating areas, Rhythm and Rest created a visual infinity+1.  Each side of the wooden frames were connected with wooden dowels, mimicking a ladder laid on its side.  Where people sat, the rungs came together creating a comfortable place to rest.  The rungs spreading out along the curve created an elegant interplay of light, shadow, and wood.
